Dr. Paul Turek now president, spokesperson for the Society of Male Reproduction & Urology

San Francisco, CA – October 23, 2013 – Dr. Paul Turek, Director of The Turek Clinic in San Francisco and Beverly Hills, has been elected President of the Society of Male Reproduction and Urology (SMRU). An academic group comprised of 250 of the world’s experts in male reproductive medicine, the SMRU is a specialist society of the larger American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ARSM) which held its annual weeklong convention in Boston last week. “I feel privileged to lead this Society, one that has done so much for our field,” said Dr Turek.

Dr. Turek plans to lead the professional group on a new path with his emphasis on social media in health care. Over 80% of Americans use the internet to research health care information. “We need to be online, right where patients live and learn, and provide them with solid, evidence-based information that empowers them to improve their health.”  Dr. Turek wants the SMRU to be the “go-to group” that engages consumers in men’s health issues such as sexual dysfunction, infertility, and hormonal replacement through classic social media channels such as Twitter and Facebook. In a word, according to the new president, “as a Society, we can impart wisdom where wisdom doesn’t exist, and that’s my goal.”
