Men’s Sexual Health Clinic in Los Angeles & San Francisco
There is a lot more to the field of men’s sexual health than simply fertility issues. In fact, erection problems in men are far more common than is male infertility.
“My approach to the treatment of male sexual health issues is similar to a vintage Ferarri: If you take the time to straighten out all of the kinks, it will run hard and fast.” – Dr. Paul Turek
And another issue that is just as common as erectile dysfunction is the group of ejaculatory disorders that includes premature or early ejaculation. In many older men, their sexuality and sexual performance is profoundly affected by low male hormone (testosterone) levels which is also a very treatable condition. Less common, but highly treatable men’s sexual health issues include testis implants for men with missing testicles and treatments for penile curvature, also termed Peyronie disease.
Male Sexual Health Issues and Treatment Options
- Ejaculatory Disorders—Disordered ejaculation in which there is no semen from the penile at the time of climax is called aspermia. This is different from azoospermia, in which semen is present but contains no sperm.
- Erectile Dysfunction—Erectile dysfunction is the inability to achieve and maintain an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual intercourse. It is estimated to affect 20 to 30 million men in the US and is definitely age-related.
- Male Hormone Replacement—The average age of men in the US is projected to rise significantly over the next 25 years, with the greatest increase occurring in men > 65 years old. As this happens, there will be a dramatic increase in age-related health problems too, including cancer, strokes, heart disease and hormone deficiency.
- Testis Prosthesis—For a variety of reasons, in both children and adults, a testis can be missing or removed. This can happen from surgery for cancer, accidental injury, twisting or lack of development of a normal testis.
